The plot seems to be following two different storylines in a way. First storyline seems like it is going to be written as flashbbacks to Misbah and Toufiq. Misbah and Toufiq have an arranged marriage and move to the US and open a Motel. The current timelone of the book follows their son through heartbreak and trying to take care of the motel.
