First off, I really appreciate the author's note in the beginning with trigger warnings, and that the triggers are shown in a way that does not spoil the plot of the book. When we get in to the story, I don't love the first chapter, the "Lahore, then," that is in italics and not very substantial. Once we get to "Juniper, now," however, the writing is much better and I love Sal's voice as a realistic teenager. I'm glad we also switch to Noor. I'm looking forward to seeing where this book goes, especially as it does not shy away from dark content.
