This book is near the top of my list for books I look forward to reading in 2022. I am a huge fan of Sabaa Tahir's writing after experiencing the Ember in the Ashes series, so my expectations for All My Rage are incredibly high. Based on the First Look, I think this new title will end up being everything I want and more!

Sabaa Tahir's style is absolutely magical, and I am so impressed that she maintains her immersive and lyrical writing throughout this shift from her original fantasy books to this historical / realistic fiction. I love that the setting of this book, a family motel, mirror's Tahir's own experiences growing up at a family-run motel. I also really appreciate that the author took time at the beginning of the book to list trigger warnings. As a librarian who works with teenagers, this is an incredibly helpful tool in matching the right book with the right reader - and I think this is a standard that ALL authors (especially those writing for teens/young adults) should adopt.

The number one element that captured my attention in this First Look is the character dynamic - I love that as you read, more and more connections are revealed between each individual. Only 39 pages in, and I feel incredibly invested in finding out more about Misbah's past (and future). I want to know more about Sal and Noor and all of the smaller characters we meet along the way. I know this book will be automatically popular in my library collection, based on the author alone. But even without the author connection, I think this stands out as one of the top books I can't wait to read in 2022. I know this one will be a strong title to recommend to the teens I work with, and I am so excited about the possibility of getting my hands on it a little early!
