I haven't read Tahir before, but from what I've read here, I like her writing. I like the characters too; the dynamic and tension of lost friendship between Sal and Noor is a good hook, and I find them to both be sympathetic and engaging. Their situations are realistic and pretty depressing... Also very interested in the short sections about Misbah.
