The author paints such vivid pictures with her words that I was transported back to high school with these characters. The conversations with peers are spot on and their struggles with their elders all ring true. I am intrigued by the first generation in US status of these families. The author makes me feel like I know Sal and Noor and I am important in their journey. I definitely want to know more about what happens to these characters.
