This looks to be a moving memoir of the authors life growing up with her three siblings, her mother and her father. Families share a lot of secrets and it appears that mother is sharing an unspoken secret that her father is gay. There are hints that there is trouble in this seemingly ‘typical’ family in the 70’s; from mother’s ‘tone’ and father’s absences. Still, children cover the positive times they spend with their parents and this author has recreated several of them.
The writing is very smooth and engaging and the author pulls you into her family system allowing you glimpse into the very beginning where mother and father share the first moment they met. It appears that there was deep love at one time among family members and I would like to know more about how all the family members have dealt with dad’s disclosure and the current familial relationships!
