Non fiction is not the usual genre I gravitate to. However, this book stood out to me given it was pride month and I wanted to read more about the struggles of a man coming out to his family. This book was an easy read, the author’s words were relatable and made gave you an inside look at the complexity of being gay when it wasn’t as accepted. The author included some photos which I thought was a really neat way to make the story even more real. I thought it was really intriguing and sad that the main character had to lead a double life in order to protect who he really was.
The cover of this book is okay. I think it would have been really nice to have a photo of the family on the cover. I personally like seeing pictures of the people I’m reading about when reading a memoir. All in all this was a good book and I am excited for other people to get out and grab a copy for themselves.
