My first thoughts, were, wow, what an amazing story! I can't image what it would be like to go throughout the majority of my life not being able to be myself. As a majority white female, I am in awe of people who are able to rise above society's standards and stereotypes to be themselves, and empathy for those who cannot feel they can be themselves. Books like this need to be read, so that people are more aware of the struggles and how difficult life can be for others.
