The topic of a closeted gay man is not new for non-fiction. However, this particular story has some intriguing twists. For Ralph Hall to come out in 1937, into a world that I imagine was not very welcoming, he must have been either very brave or very desperate. But what could have occurred to send him back into hiding? I found this little hook very intriguing, as whatever it was it must have been significant to keep him in the closet for another almost 60 years.
