I found what I read so far interesting, but I always wonder a bit about the ethics of a family member writing about another family member’s story — particularly in instances like this, when that family member leaves their tale largely untold during their life time. As a queer person, I would feel uncomfortable if someone told my story for me, the way the author does here. It’s been handled with care thus far, but I feel like this story would have more power coming from the source directly.
