This book is one of my favorites of all time. First things first- the cover art was incredible. I absolutely loved the face card imagery and the illustrations are amazing.
More important than the cover art, the book is absolutely fascinating. The story revolves around the only two Black students at a prestigious private school and the conspiracy that revolves around them.
The characters are vivid and imaginative and the twists regarding Aces are absolutely gut wrenching. It's an absolutely fascinating examination of institutional racism and especially the way it operates in educational institutions. It's mind-blowing and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it. Its a book that I would definitely like to take the time to reread and examine more closely when I have more time. The writing is stunning and absolutely devastating.
