this book...was so damn good.
It follows Chiamaka Adebayo and Devon Richards, the only black kids who attend Niveus Private Academy. The beginning of their years seems to be off to a great start, they are both chosen to be Senior Prefects and have a chit to become valedictorian. Except, good things never last.
Shortly after someone who goes by Aces starts sending anonymous text messages sharing several secrets about the two-that threaten their very carefully planned futures. They are the pawns in a very dangerous game with all the cards stacked against them..
after all, how do you stop an unknown enemy?

This book was literally so addictive. I finished in less than a day. Everything was perfect, I really liked both characters and my heart hurt when they were the targets of the racism happening at their school. I really felt represented by Chiamaka, the character who was top of her class, got the best grades and felt as if she needed that to get what she wanted, go to Yale and become a doctor.
I also feel this way, grades seem to be the only thing I have and I freak out when they don’t meet my parents or my standards.
It was very real and it saddens me that things like this happen, that racism is still very much a real and big issue.
I didn’t guess who Aces was, mostly because it was just so much more complex than that-it was bigger than just Aces.
also that ending with Chiamaka, a fucking power move.
