A fast paced thriller about two black students at an elite private school. Devon and Chiamaka are the only two black students that attend Niveus Private Academy. They are in different social and class circles, with Devon being a scholarship student and Chiamaka having rich parents. Devon is a stay in the background type while Chiamaka is a popular, take no nonsense, over-achiever. After they are both selected as part of the senior class prefects, someone called “Aces” starts exposing their secrets one by one. Determined to stop Aces, Chiamaka and Devon work together. They start to see that Aces might be larger and more dangerous than they ever expected. The story is told in first person with the narrator switching between Devon and Chiamaka. The characters of Chiamaka and Devon were well written. The settings are also well described. The story is fast paced and this private school has some serious drama and mystery. The playing card cover is cool. Perfect for fans of dark academia like Pretty Liars and Private.
