1. I like Devon point of view better than Chiamaka
2. Chiamaka point of view is worrying me that I will not like the story. I don't know if I will like her pov. I feel she is basic mean girl(she was not serving snapbacks) with basic frenemies. The school is a stereotypical high school (it could be interesting especially in terms of thriller). I will say it is interesting having a Black mean girl.
3. Okay, I am thinking a lot about Black young adult (and adult thrillers) so it is going to be interesting comparing this to Taking of Jake Livingston (currently reading) and When No One Was Watching (read).
4. Having a Black (possibly) queer teen is a good too.
5. I really like the cover it fits the story and is eye catching.
Theories
I think that Devon being apart of the prefects is a set up. By who tho? Who would benefit from Devon being apart of prefects? And what is the benefit?
I think we have not met the villain(s) yet. If they are the only Black students are they going to deal with racism by the bully? Is there just racism or murder too? Who exposed Devon? Could there be many faces- one who set up Devon? One who is killing/bullying? I think it is two perpetrators because why was Devon picked then bullies (maybe racism?)? But like does that make sense? I think the villains are not Chiamaka friends just based on my mystery reader senses. Something up with the headmaster. What happened to the old headmaster? Is it a big conspiracy? Okay, no more theorizing.
