This book is off to a fun start. Niveus Academy is an exclusive private school. Devon and Chiamaka are named as prefects at the opening day assembly of their senior year. Chiamaka is the most popular girl in school, so it's no surprise that she has earned the title of head prefect. Devon is a scholarship student struggling to blend in, so his is much more surprised to have earned the honor. This books is off to a fun start. Chiamaka and Devon appear to be polar opposites and their differing characters create a nice contrast. Chamaka and her closest friends immediately brought to my mind the movies Heathers and Mean Girls - from the introduction she seems to be the top mean girl, the head Heather. There are some little bits of foreshadowing that make me wonder how the story will unfold from here. The writing style is very readable and accessible.
