Ace of Spades starts off setting up the two main characters well. I was immediately able to understand the personality types of Devon and Chiamaka. While we aren't told outright, we come to understand that both Devon and Chiamaka have things that they are keeping hidden from everyone else. Given how different their perceived status in the school is, it was interesting to see that they had many similarities. For example, both had very few real friends.
