A much-needed revamp (see what I did there) on vampires. Look I loved Twilight as much as the next female-loving paranormal romance junky, but after it spawned a series of crap lit in that genre, I was out. Not anymore. I'm invested in the outcome of this book. Arthie Casimir is a delightful and fully three-dimensional character who practically jumps off the page. I love the romantic tension between Arthie and her two love interests. It is sizzling and does not distract from her goal of saving her tea house. I have deep respect for Hafsah Faizal's ability to write with a captivating style. We Hunt the Flame was a great read, and so is this. Her prose is like poetry and it gives so much detail in terms of character development. You get a deep point of view from each of the characters who narrate this tale. I cannot wait for the second book. But really, it's a massive cliff hangar, and I hope she is close to completing the second installment.
