It really pains me to rate this 2 stars. I really wanted to love this book with every fiber of my being. The premise sounds phenomenal and the pitch that it's a peaky blinders heist with vampires, I was all in. I listened to the audiobook and couldn't get into the story. It's very slow moving and the writing style just didn't work for me. It was such a big let down as this was one of my most anticpicated reads. I feel like the characters were flat and I wasn't invested in any of them nor the heist and the whole story just dragged on. The twists were either predictable or laughable. The laughable one was just ridiculous to me, almost like Twilight with their sparkling vampires. I could appreciate the struggles as a woman and POC with the colonialism in the story and how Arthie persevered having her own tea shop and being successful. Beyond that, the story just wasn't for me.
