This is most likely a me problem, but I couldn't connect with the story and I don't know why. The story is very well written, the plot is intriguing, and the characters are the right blend of lovable and flawed. I mean, it's literally a heist with vampires, morally gray characters, love, innocence, tons of mystery and drama and I just never got to the place where the book absorbed me. I would literally read a chapter and then put it down for days and then come back and repeat the process. I wanted to like it so much, but it just wasn't there for me.

Arthie owns a tea house that transforms into an illegal vampire blood bar by night. After a raid, she learns that the King himself has demanded the closure of her teahouse and he's going about it in a shady way. Arthie and her "brother" Jin along with one of the King's elite guards, come up with a crazy plan to keep the tea house open by sneaking into the vampire's sacred lair (an offense punishable by stake through the heart) and stealing a ledger to blackmail the King.

It's definitely a great read, and I wanted to love it, but it just wasn't for me.
