Initially going to rate 3.5 stars, but changed towards the end to give it 4.5. I wasn’t expecting to like this book, if I did solely for the reasons of there being vampires (my favorite kinds of novels), and a vampire society (by day tea room, by night illegal bloodhouse.) I was a bit skeptical to read it at first due to it being a series since I’m usually a standalone kind of reader and it wasn’t hitting for me at first: but then (as I said at the beginning) changed my mind and feel like I should continue. There were parts in the book I felt were mentioned just for the time being, then dropped at certain points not making it the original key factor I thought it to be. I understand where people think it was also a little hard to connect with Arthie a bit since she was so closed off until the end, but I feel opposed to that. I feel that is a great way to show a character’s development, I kind of resonated with her.
