A new fave for the year!
This book was so fun! Easily a fave for the year.
It truly is King Arthur meets Peaky Blinders plus vampires vs the evils of colonialism.
We have a Peaky Blinders type gang of orphans led by our main character Arthie. We have a heist. An evil ruler. And a tea house that doubles as a blood house.
I was invested in all the characters. There was romance and action and vampires. Also plot twists. It kept you on the edge of your seat. And the enemies-to-lovers was so good I found myself rooting for it and feeling the tension and pining and heartbreak.
And I have to say, Leith is my boy and I LOVE him. And Jin and Flick are little sunshines who need to be protected. And I love the found-family relationship between Arthie and Jin, its so sweet. Arthie herself is so tough and I really enjoyed her character.
The only thing I didn't totally love was there seems to be a bit of a love triangle? And that's just not something I really enjoy. Because I never tend to enjoy the scenes with the other side of the triangle which means I just end up not enjoying a chunk of the book.
But overall a really fun book, great characters and story and vibe, would definitely recommend! And thank you to Bookish First for selecting me as a winner to receive a copy!
