After LOVING the first series this author had written, I was very excited for this release. I started it very shortly after the book was released but I had a hard time getting through it. I found myself not wanting to pick up this book and not really looking forward to getting through the story. Since I loved the author's first series, I did eventually make my way through the book, but I overall just felt very meh about the story. The writing in the story is ok and I am a huge fan of vampire stories in general, but the plot is where this fell short for me. I think the multiple POVs ended up doing this story a disservice. I didn't feel invested in the characters, they were hard to relate to and nothing especially stood out about them. The most memorable character for me (the vampire artist) wasn't even in that much of the story. The ending of this book just left me feeling very confused, and I know it is setting up for a sequel, but it wasn't in a way that made me excited to read the next book. Overall, this was just a disappointing read :/
