Historical fiction in any form is my favorite type of read. I love books that include family secrets and mystery. Everyone is always searching for their true self but when you add in generational mystery and a character searching for their roots in the past you have a book that draws me in as a reader. One of my favorite books from the past year is Those Who Save Us. This book sounds like it has the same type of storyline but tells it in a different time and place. I know from my own family dynamics that keeping family secrets is common and leads to dysfunction and possibly destruction of family ties. You would think if you've lived it you wouldn't want to read about it but the opposite is true. It tells the reader you aren't alone. This is the type of book I always choose to read.
