The opening pages of the book brought back memories of my mother’s Alzheimer’s situation. You could feel the frustration in looking for who the grandmother used to be. The author introduces two characters that are facing financial problems for different reasons related to family. Millie’s discovery of the family’s connection to the Dawson estate and a hidden diary leads up to the mystery and its’ location brings in an historical aspect to the story. Ben’s entry provides an opponent to work toward the same goals as Millie for his own reason, introducing the possibility of romance. The soft look of the top of the cover is offset by the bolder colors of the bottom half and really catches the eye.

This book covers both of my favorite genres, mystery and historical fiction. It would definitely go onto my TBR list.
