Woof. I was so excited for this book and it was an utter disappointment. It centers around an east coast teen, Aria, who is sent to live with her grandma for the summer on the west coast after a scandal. While Aria spends the summer exploring her sexuality, it’s ultimately at the expense of everyone around her. She embarks on a selfish summer romance with Steph, who is in a long term relationship, with little to no remorse or acknowledgment of her actions. There appears little growth from the main character throughout the story, which I understand is potentially reality for an emotionally immature teenager. But this story just feels so far off from the author's previous story, which had such depth and self reflection.
Come on! Is this really the plot? Not here for it. I was hopeful for more. Maybe I'll reread in the future with fresher eyes and give it another shot.
