A Scatter of Light has such a strong start, setting the stage for a coming of age story that I cannot wait to dive into further. Aria is a compelling main character, and As a reader, I am already hoping that her summer helps her find a place where she is validated, loved and belongs. Malinda Lo’s writing is beautiful which is no surprise after having read Last Night at the Telegraph Club. I’m excited for the promised peeks into the lives of those characters several decades on but it’s a credit to her writing that I’m even more eager to follow Aria and Steph over their summer. I’m also drawn in by the details that suggest that issues of class, identity, race, and family will play a role in the plot. I can’t wait for this novel’s release so that I can read this story to the end!
