Seems Messy

I feel like I can already tell where this book is going to go based off of this First Look.

Aria is basically forced to spent the summer with her grandma after a boy she hooked up with took photos of her topless without her permission and posted them on tumblr. When these photos went semi-viral, Aria began to get slutshamed at school, and her summer plans to hang out with her friends on Martha's Vineyard are thrown out the window when her friends' mothers casually uninvite her.

During the first few days of her summer vacation, Aria meets Steph, her grandma's gardener who is in a relationship with another woman. It's obvious throughout Aria's narration that she has never considered the fact that a woman can be in a relationship with another woman, and it feels as though this book will focus not only on Aria learning about the LGBT community, but also learning more about herself and her interests.

Which is where I feel like this book will get a little messy. As we can already see from Aria's experiences with the boy who took photos of her, she's prone to jumping into things without much thought. I can imagine Aria getting her heart broken because of her tendency to do things without thinking of what comes next, and I'm not sure I would enjoy that kind of book.

I did, however, enjoy the relationship between her and her grandma. Especially how this book opens with the story of her beginning to call her grandma by her first name only and her grandma's only reaction being "Obviously we're on a first name basis now. Duh." I'd 100% read this book to see their relationship develop if Aria's obvious obsession with Steph didn't put me off.
