Aria is from an area where she doesn't quite fit in - primarily because of her family's finances. When a fellow student takes advantage of her it leads to her not feeling she can speak up and being accused of being loose. Instead of with her friends, she ends up with her grandmother, an opportunity to be exposed to a whole different world that may be a better fit for her, but likely remind her of the frailty of people and the messy emotions that come with it.
