Seventeen year old Eva is a princess, born with the deadliest magic of blood and marrow, that hasn’t been around for generations. It’s last known practice was from Queen Raina, who toppled the native him are royalty and massacred thousands, including her own sister, thus beginning the Rival Heir tradition.

Eva must now face her older sister Isa, in a battle for the Ivory Throne, because only the strongest most ruthless queen shall ascend the throne.

When Eva is attacked by an assassin just weeks before the battle with her sister, she discovers there is more to the attempt on her life than meets the eye, and possibly it isn’t just her sister who wants her dead.

As tensions run high, Eva is forced to turn to a fey instructor of mythic proportions and a mysterious and handsome khimaer princes for help in growing her magic into something to fear. Despite the love for her sister, Eva will have to choose: Isa’s death or her own.

Wow! Amanda Joy did such an amazing job in weaving the backstory and Myth’s into this novel! I never felt lost, which sometimes happens in fantasy novels. Eva was super loyal to her sister, even though she was terribly wicked to her the entire time. I loved Baccha’s character and the sweetness that was inside him despite his terrible reputation. Overall I really enjoyed this story and the plot twist at the end! I’m sensing there will be a sequel to this since it left on such a huge cliffhanger!
