I loved the set-up and world building of this novel. Their love for each other as sisters when they are young is so sweet until they find out they must fight to the death to win the Queendom. Isa already knows how to use her magic and Eva is struggling. It's almost time to fight and Eva just wants to go back to being sisters. Her escapes to the village to dance and have fun like a "normal girl" are a welcome part of the story. We get to see more of the world outside the castle. This book has secrets and betrayals and tenderhearted moments. Adventure and murder! I find it interesting this whole novel is told from Eva's perspective. I'll be interested to see if the next book follows Eva or if we"ll get to see Isa's side.
