This book hooked me completely from the description. I was quickly drawn in to the story of an out-of-place princess who longs to be any where but stuck in the castle with people she dislikes and who look at her with fear and distrust tinged with curiosity. Destined to fight her sister to the death for the throne, she is stuck in a life she doesn't want. The thing is, while she does not want to die, she would rather do so than become a murderer like the other women in her family line that have fought to be queen. In a country that is divided into sectors of humans, fae, bloodkin, and khimaer, only the first three races are allowed to live freely in the capital. Magic abounds in the land, and is one of the things she will have to use against her also magically gifted sister. Except she doesn't know how to use her magic...
