A River of Royal Blood was filled with magic, a deadly battle for the throne and a deep betrayal.
Eva is a character I immediately loved. She struggles between the expectations of her role as Princess, the impending deadly battle fir the throne, the injustices she witnesses in her Kingdom and her conscience telling her that she cannot imagine killing anyone let alone her own sister. This story gets even more complicated given the fact that Eva was born with the magic of blood and marrow which is the deadliest of all magics but she has not been able to wield it with her battle just months away. As she begins training with a Fey tutor who can teach her in this long dead magic as no one else can Eva uncovers mysteries and truths she did not know about herself or her family.
The world building, culture, history and magical system in this story were fantastic. The only negative for me was that after the first few chapters the story felt a bit slow before it picked up again. But once it did, I absolutely loved it!
