Not impressed yet but my mind could be changed.
Sisters Eva and Isadore are princesses of the Queendom of Myre. Ever since humans seized power of Myre from the khimaer centuries ago, the tradition has been for any sister-princesses to fight to the death, with the winner becoming the next Queen.
I was only mildly interested by the beginning; it just seems like an obvious "Chosen One" trope. I'm mostly curious about the secret subversive plot to destroy the Queendom. The future destiny of Eva and Isadore is less interesting.
Also, the blurb mentions this is set in North Africa, but I did not pick up on that at all from the first chapters. Hopefully the African setting becomes more important as the book goes on.
