A River of Royal Blood is a fantastically well-written story about sibling rivalry, on steroids.

In the Queendom of Myre, tradition dictates that royal sisters fight to the death, with incredibly powerful magic, to determine the true heir to the throne.

Evalina is two years younger than her sister Isadore yet has the rare and destructive blood and marrow magick. She would be a sure bet to be the next Queen, except she doesn't know how to use her power and doesn't really want to. Eva would rather be out dancing and enjoying her life away from the court politics. Isadore, on the other hand, has been groomed for the Ivory Throne all her life as their mother's clear favorite, leaving Eva feeling like an outsider.

Along the way, author Amanda Joy has laid the foundation for some stellar world building, including four races, culture and history, and their political system. And she does it without the dreaded info dump. Instead, she gives enough of the right information at the right time that she not only keeps you invested but makes it easy to clearly imagine this unique world. I can't wait to continue reading this story!
