Only reading from the father's point of view thus far, it is clear that Stella is a troubled teen. It seems that the parents were in denial. Now that she is being questioned, a suspect in a murder, her father is realizing that he may know more than he thought.

The first look leaves me with many questions, ones that can only be answered by reading the book in its entirety. Who is the victim and how does he fit into this story? What has Stella been doing all of those nights that she doesn't come home or comes home late? With all of the lying and sneaking around, the way that she fidgeted at her birthday dinner, the fact that she is secretly trying to see the car that her parents bought her for her birthday all has me wondering if she isn't in some sort of trouble or maybe fighting with an addiction of some sort.

This first impression of A Nearly Normal Family really has be jumping to conclusions, needing to know what is going to happen next!
