I really like this concept, faith and family vs. justice and the moral decisions that must be made. The story grabs you right from the start and gets you asking questions and yearning for answers. I like how the author begins developing the family before the individual characters. We get little insight into each person, but it's the family that is really highlighted right from the start.
The author does a good job creating a sense of anxiety and suspense and I'm definitely eager to get into more detail about the murder, the specifics of each of the family members, and the paths each one will take as the story unfolds. I enjoyed this excerpt and look forward to reading the rest. It definitely sparked my interest.
