From the outside the Sandells seem like the perfect family, and then daughter Stella is arrested for the murder of an older man. But of course things are not nearly so simple and neither are the people involved. The story leading up to the murder and Stella's arrest is told by Adam, the father and a pastor. The period between the arrest and the trial is told by Stella, the daughter. The time of the trial is told by Ulrika, the mother and a lawyer. As the story unfolds you see what parents are willing to do for their child, who the daughter really is and how her friendship with best friend Amina and a past experience has on the events of her relationship with the murder victim, and how the law can be interpreted in a crime such as this one. The overall whodunit wasn't much of a surprise to me, it was more why one person did what they did and just where exactly their loyalty laid that I wasn't expecting.
