What would you do to protect those you love? That is the question following a family in A Nearly Normal Family. Written in three parts, from the perspectives of Adam, Stella, and Ulrika. A Nearly Normal Family will make you wonder how far you will go to protect the ones you hold dear. The first part is told through Adam, a pastor and Stella’s father. He struggles to find out what happens to his daughter and begins his own investigation of what happened that fateful night. Second part is told through Stella’s perspective. The story bounces back and forth in time, from the present while Stella is in prison and in the past – what happened in the time leading up to the night that hanged everything. In the final third part, revolves around Ulrika and the trial. Ulrika, who is an attorney, has put her career first over being a mom; even though she always wanted her daughter. Ulrika shifts her focus from her career to her daughter and goes far to protect her Stella from being convicted of the crime. Having knowledge of legal system in Sweden, she does things that she has to do.

A Nearly Normal Family held my attention and I could not put the book down. The story sucked me in and I couldn’t wait to finish it to see how it ended. It is one of the books that will stay with me for a while. How far would you really go?
