Tri-narrator suspense that was atmospheric, dark, brimming over with mental health issues, a touch of religion, and some Swedish legal procedural too. The tl;dr is that this was an unputdownable great read told from three points of view, the mom, the dad, and the jailed daughter.

The longer review: we start off with dad. A pastor; would you tell a lie to save your only child? A daughter that survived a rape that you didn't report at 15, and is now sitting in jail accused of murdering a 32 year old man while you were home sleeping?

The tale then segues to the the daughter. We get just enough glimpse into the turmoil of this girl's mind to wonder if she is truly guilty of the crime or if it was her best friend. We know she knew the victim and was involved with him but was it self defense? Was it defense of her friend? Was it outright murder? Right when we're about to find out, it segues to her mom and we get a glimpse into the Swedish legal system.

The book really takes off here, and wraps up and explains what this family was willing to do. It also gives a surprising look into the difference between our legal system and Swedens.

Great, suspenseful, page turner. Gripping read!
