An edge-of-your-seat suspense

This one is different from any other suspense books I have read. First, it's told in three parts, where a different person narrates each section. These are 100-150 page sections, not alternating chapters. The time is simply wacky. It jumps around and is initially hard to follow, but you kinda get the hang of it. It's set in Sweden, so it took me some time to understand the legal jargon and laws for the courtroom drama. Lastly, very little of this novel takes place in a courtroom.

Stella, an 18 yr old is accused of murdering a man 15 years her senior. Her dad is a pastor and her mom a lawyer. Weird, right? Her parents try to figure out what happened and why anyone would believe Stella would commit such a crime. The dad's POV was my least favorite and came off as very churchy, overprotective dad vibes. Stella's section was my favorite, but the mom's POV is addictive. By her mother's section, you honestly don't know what is happening and what role everyone played.

In general, this book is a great read. It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering and questioning everything and everyone. There were moments where I grew angry at the characters, due to women not believing other women about shitty men, but ya know, patriarchy. The patriarchy pisses me off. Anyhow, highly recommend, not necessarily a thriller, but 100% a suspenseful novel.
