Listen, I read A LOT of crime thrillers. The majority of my reading is in the mystery/thriller genre. Very little surprises me and I can typically figure out twists early on. A Nearly Normal Family completely blows me away! I like that it is written from different perspectives - I'm always impressed when an author can so fully inhabit the mind of different characters in the same book. It provides a fuller experience for me as a reader, but also keeps me guessing about who to trust. You can feel the earnestness of the father, but simultaneously, how are his actions being perceived by others? How far would you go to protect your family? I guess we'll see! Seems like everyone has a secret or two and will go to different lengths to conceal their motives.
