My first impression of "A Nearly Normal Family" is that the writing style flows really well and is easy to follow. The dialogue comes across as authentic and keeps the pace moving along at a decent clip, even as the story fluctuates back and forth in time. I like that we aren't going too deep back in time, as has become a fairly common theme in a lot of mysteries in the past few years. The First Look only gives us a good impression of Adam, the father in this story. He is extremely concerned about his now 18-year old daughter, Stella, and the course that her life seems to be taking. The reader gets a hint at a dark secret and a history of seemingly minor lies that set up Stella as an unreliable character. The description says that the story will be told as a three-part narrative, so I am very interested to see who the other two narrators will be. Will we hear from Ulrika, Stella's mother and an attorney, as well as Stella? Or will we get a different, as yet unintroduced, character's perspective? All in all, an intriguing story so far.
