I liked the set up. The Prologue gives just enough to let you know that the daughter of the man who is the POV character is on trial for murder, his wife having just testified in court. From there the time lone falls back a bit to the daughter, Stella's 18th birthday celebration. Her gift is a pink motor scooter. Stella heads off to continue celebrating with a friend.

When Stella does not return home at the normal time, dad is worried--but she is now an 18 year old and so he doesn't worry too much. Worry begins when they discover that there had been a murder nearby, something that is certainly not normal for their community. Then they discover that Stella has been arrested in connection with the murder and that the victim is the prominent son of a noted law professor.

The setting is evidently Sweden and there are some local references that were unknown to me, but that didn't seem to bother me in reading. I noted that the book had extremely short chapters, but what that seemed to do was give a sense of a rapidly developing story.

I love a good mystery and this has all the hallmarks of a great one! I'd love to read it!
