The books opens with a courtroom scene where a father must testify to his daughter’s whereabouts, but he’s unsure of what to say when she enters the courtroom.

The story then jumps back in time to give the reader and idea of how we got there in the first place. Stella just turned 18, but her life seems to be full of secrets that she’s hiding from her parents. Her family’s life comes to a crashing halt when she’s accused of murdering the son of a very well known criminal law professor.

I’m definitely intrigued by the plot. The writing is incredibly beautiful. It’s a bit tough to figure out the truth as of right now since the POV is from the father, and he’s clueless.
