Nico is the sole survivor of his family and immune to the Bloody Three. Lord Crane finds him and takes him in along with other immunes, giving them work and a place to live. Nico is grateful for Lord Crane but unfortunately his gratitude clouds the truth.
Seraphina is the imposter princess Imogen, brought to the castle by Imogen's sisters: Nina, Giselle, and Rose. She was the only one that physically matched Imogen, the King's favorite daughter, and she is taken from her family to take the place of the deceased princess. After four years living in boarded up castle, she wants her freedom.
The story is set in an unnamed fantasy kingdom four years after the plague has ravaged the land. Those that have survived are either immune to the plague or were never infected by it (immaculates). I thought some of the characters were well written, especially Nico, Seraphina, and Lord Crane. Also a very interesting twist on vampires.
