I enjoyed it well enough in the first 40-50%, even though I did struggle to connect with the characters. It definitely has that gothic and creepy vibe to it right from the start, which I appreciated.
Where it kind of lost me was when a new "element" to the story was introduced (no spoilers) that I found too much to believe on top of everything else. There was already a lot going on, and I did not find it necessary or think it really added value.
