This is a perfect young adult novel. A multitude of dreams is a gothic retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's story “The Masque of the Red Death.” I cannot give you an honest comparison of her story and Poe’s but I did enjoy this story. I was not bored one moment or find my eye wondering off the page thinking about what other books I have to read. Mara Rutherford, the author, did a great job of building an eerie world that just survived a plague. I loved she added dual point of views that were brought together in the story very well. I had read other reviews mentioning if you’re over Covid this may not be the book for you. PLEASE IGNORE THOSE REVIEWS! You will not think about Covid if anything your mind should wonder within this post plagued world now surrounded by devastation, survivors, and monsters! I am so glad to have had an opportunity to read this novel and really believe it would be a perfect fall book.
