This is the second book I’ve read of Mara Rutherford and it did not disappoint. A Multitude of Dreams is a gothic retelling of The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe. There are lots of hidden secrets along with hidden Princesses! The plot starts out a little slow until the characters finally meet and then the pacing picks up. The story is spooky and eerie, similar to Poe, but also so intriguing and thrilling. Chemistry could have been more between Nico and Seraphina but they are still very good characters. Nico is a normal boy, but loyal with good morals and strength. Seraphina is not afraid of going for what she wants. It was nice to have some history of antisemitism with plagues added in. Great twists and turns which is typical for Rutherford and an overall really great read! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
