Beautiful and Creepy
Four stars! Thanks to BookishFirst for an ARC of this book!
This was the perfect blend of fantasy and creepiness. It’s also a book that kept me up way too late wanting to know what happens!
I loved each character (perfect villains), and I think Seraphina sees the most growth and change. She very much goes from a “I must fight for myself” mindset to “I will choose to fight for other people.”
I also love how she works to forgive herself for what she had to do to survive the horrible situation she was forced into. Most of which was NOT her fault. Points to the author for an accurate representation of survivors guilt and representation of Jewish culture and antisemitism. Definitely a conversation that still needs to be had today in modern society.
My only critique would be that I felt like the ending was rushed. I would’ve liked another fifty or so pages to really wrap everything up and make it so the romance didn’t feel like it had come on quite so suddenly.
All in all, beautiful book!
