After reading the First Look, synopsis, and quite a few Goodreads reviews, I think this book tries to pack too many things into one plot. The major stipulation a lot of reviews mentioned was that the author tried to fit a real-world concept into a complete fantasy world. And while that often works for certain books, I don’t know if it lends to the novel’s strength here. Absolutely gorgeous cover though.
